Architecture photography post-production for Vieler International.

Half year ago we did a product photo-session for Vieler International.

Now Andre Vieler asked us to shoot exterior photos of the whole plant. We used a fork lifter to raise the photographer to a height where was much less perspective distortion.  This works much better then any tilt/shift lens, I wish we could have such lifter for all of our architectural projects:-)

Here I’ll show you how I did a post-production, some parts of work flow. Here is the image before and after:

1. First of all I clean the image using Healing Brush and Clone Stump Tools

2. Then correct perspective distortion using the Adobe Photoshop Free Transform Tool

3. Clone missing parts of grass

4. Making a brand new asphalt:-)

  • duplicate layer
  • create new layer and fill it Black
  • Filter/Noise/ Add Noise (18%, Gaussian, Monochromatic)
  • Filter/Stylize/Glowing Edges (Edge Width 1, Edge Brightness 4, Smoothness 3)
  • Blending options – Overlay
  • Duplicate this layer
  • Merge last 3 layers
  • Add Vector Mask holding Alt Key
  • Pick up a white brush and paint over asphalt, change opacity of this layer as you like:

This method works best on a light gray asphalt.

If you have other ideas how to improve architecture photos, please share them here:-)
