We are back from our small vacation. There was fabulous 3 days of relax in Georgia mountains. We lived in a beautiful house in Hiawassee, Lake Chatuge, Northeast Mountains, Georgia, USA (100 Miles North of Atlanta, GA). Thank you, Doug and Beckie I don’t remember when I had a such relaxed rest last time:-)
Alex made some pictures of us and “Eye Candy” breathtaking mountain and lake views from the deck. All technical details you can read on Alex’s blog.
Lots of work, plans, ideas and holidays:-) Just finished couple very interesting exclusive projects but unfortunately we can’t release it now because of disclose agreement.
Also we are preparing new lessons and master classes. We have bought some new props for it:-) I think you know that many photographers use artificial food, drinks, ice, snow for the hi-end food and product photography, but there not so many places where you can find it. One of the most professional props, I think, sells by Trengove Studios in New York. Be ready to pay $40 for one ice cube
In addition we are planing to show more how we do a post production and retouching on our video tutorials, in addition to behind the shoot videos. Stay tuned!
And in the end here are couple family photos from this Halloween, we had a party with our friends in our studio:-)
Just finished a next FUN photo-session with our little models:-) It was awesome collaboration with brilliant fashion designers Alla Koval and Francoise Lama-Solet
How it was in reality see our behind-the-scene video below. As always, all technical aspects and full length video from this photo-session you can find on Alex Koloskov blog
Absolutely awesome unique clothes. It is a pleasure just to hold it in hands:-)
I very like a stage photography, creativity and unusual results with such type of photography.
At the end we are getting gorgeous pictures of my kids, every mom wants to have great photos of her children:-)
Lilia is an excellent model. Almost 3 years old toddler act seriously as a professional model:-) You can see her on a stage on the behind-the-scene video below.
As always, all technical aspects and full length video from this photo-session you can find on Alex Koloskov blog
We had a very busy month: a lot of assignment work, LIVE masterclass and preparation for our girls first school, Montessori. Eventually we got everyone ready, washed and potty-trained, and Monday was a first day of school for our girls and some sort of beginning of a new life for us:-)
Now I will have more time to describe photo-sessions we do and (my favorite:-) to upload more photos including “before and after” on this blog.
Here, at AKELstudio we have so many plans and ideas: We are going to change our stock web site www.akelphoto.com to specializing only in water stock photography. We want to re-design our Portfolio and run ourLIVE masterclassesto a regular basis.
Also I will fill up my inspirational and motivational collection (www.kapreez.com) with best photographers, designers, retouchers and readings.
This post I would like to devote to my friend and a very talented person Anna Shafigina. She has a great taste and perfect sense of style and harmony, her perfectionism allows her to achieve blameless outcome in any fields. Today I will show you Anna’s talent for an interior decoration and design. She decorated this room for her baby boy Nicolas. Amazingly good, isn’t it?
I like this type of articles a lot: before and after images. Now I show you some outstanding HDR images we had done in a past. Do not do them much now, busy with in-studio work with the products, but I still enjoy working with HDRi. I will not give you many technical aspects how to make HDR photos, but this is what our photographer Alex Koloskov has told me about how he shot these landscape HDR photos:
” I usually do from two to four or five exposures for each HDR, decision s made based on how wide dynamic range is needed.
For bright sunny day, where there is a deep shadows and bright sky or water is present, up to five exposures may be needed to get the correct exposure for the whole range of brightness. On dusk and dawn, two or three exposure will be enough.
I rarely use auto exposure bracketing (when camera makes from 3 to 5 images for you form up to _3 to +3 f-stops), but rather shoot on manual, making more then 3 f-stops bracketing when needed.
The idea is to get correctly exposed the darkest and the brightest part of the image , the rest should fall in between.”
~Alex
For these landscape images I used Photomatix Pro 3 because I like some unrealistic effect it gives. When I need more realistic images (especially for architecture) I like to use Photoshop, selecting two or more files from a set of exposures to merge and create a High Dynamic Range image. There is even more accurate method: using masks, when I manually merge specific areas of the image by masking them and blending with another layer.
But again, for these particular photos I used Photomatix Pro 3 plus some Photoshop adjustments.
Mandir is the name for a Hindu place of worship and prayer. The word mandir is composed of two words, Man and Dir, whose meanings are mind and still, respectively. Therefore, a mandir is a place where the mind becomes still; a place where we experience peace from worldly problems. For centuries, the mandir has remained a spiritual, educational, social and physical cornerstone of Indian society.
It is very unusual to find something like this in Georgia. The place is truly beautiful and the marble carvings are amazing. Unfortunately we can take photos only from a distance. The rest beauty I’ll try to remember:-)
