Our Last weekend was awesome! There were lake, forest, live music, camp fire, and great company. Thank you Sasha and Rasa for inviting us.
Below are some photos of my family. Post production have took only a couple minutes to drag sliders in Adobe camera RAW converter. This is a such creative and easy process:-)
At the bottom of the photos you can find screen shots from RAW converter which show how to achieve this film look effect (split toning and vignetting) with Adobe Camera Raw, part of Photoshop CS5.
I love retouching! I can spend hours and days working on a single photo. Retouching for me is relaxation, inspiration, meditation, excitement, satisfaction and more:-) I can only wish I could have done it earlier in my life. I still have to learn a lot and learn fast and deep. If you love Photoshop like I do, join me on this blog and I will share everything I learn here.
A couple days ago, I decided to practice in Hi-End portrait retouching. Our studio does not shoot people these days , so I found our friend’s Anna portrait from the last Halloween celebration:-) Below, at the end of this post, you will find the links with tutorials and tips I used for this retouching session.
It was such a pleasure to jump in the middle of the summer, especially when outside is a cold, freezing and going to snow. I love summer, I love sun and palms:-) I really hope we move to live in a such “always summer” place. I am talking about our week vacation on Key West, Florida. It was a true joy to spend a week there, with our friends.
And now, in a cold Atlanta I enjoy to work with these warm pictures we brought from Key West .
As always, I experiment with the post production: now trying to do a most work in RAW converter and then a little touch-up in Photoshop. Working with RAW in converter gives me the most from the image (speaking of the quality), as I want to make sure I can use my experience in a commercial work as well. Below the set, use your mouse to see before and after.
We are back from our small vacation. There was fabulous 3 days of relax in Georgia mountains. We lived in a beautiful house in Hiawassee, Lake Chatuge, Northeast Mountains, Georgia, USA (100 Miles North of Atlanta, GA). Thank you, Doug and Beckie I don’t remember when I had a such relaxed rest last time:-)
Alex made some pictures of us and “Eye Candy” breathtaking mountain and lake views from the deck. All technical details you can read on Alex’s blog.
Lots of work, plans, ideas and holidays:-) Just finished couple very interesting exclusive projects but unfortunately we can’t release it now because of disclose agreement.
Also we are preparing new lessons and master classes. We have bought some new props for it:-) I think you know that many photographers use artificial food, drinks, ice, snow for the hi-end food and product photography, but there not so many places where you can find it. One of the most professional props, I think, sells by Trengove Studios in New York. Be ready to pay $40 for one ice cube
In addition we are planing to show more how we do a post production and retouching on our video tutorials, in addition to behind the shoot videos. Stay tuned!
And in the end here are couple family photos from this Halloween, we had a party with our friends in our studio:-)
Just finished a next FUN photo-session with our little models:-) It was awesome collaboration with brilliant fashion designers Alla Koval and Francoise Lama-Solet
How it was in reality see our behind-the-scene video below. As always, all technical aspects and full length video from this photo-session you can find on Alex Koloskov blog
Absolutely awesome unique clothes. It is a pleasure just to hold it in hands:-)
I very like a stage photography, creativity and unusual results with such type of photography.
At the end we are getting gorgeous pictures of my kids, every mom wants to have great photos of her children:-)
Lilia is an excellent model. Almost 3 years old toddler act seriously as a professional model:-) You can see her on a stage on the behind-the-scene video below.
As always, all technical aspects and full length video from this photo-session you can find on Alex Koloskov blog
Big kids of our friends asked us to shoot their Senior Pictures for Walton High School Yearbook. During the shoot Alex had a chance to test his DIY Vagabond II and I experiment with several post-production and retouching techniques. For some of the images I used this tutorial: The Double RAW Conversion Tutorial from Calvin Hollywood. I really like the double RAW conversion method and use it often.
We had a very busy month: a lot of assignment work, LIVE masterclass and preparation for our girls first school, Montessori. Eventually we got everyone ready, washed and potty-trained, and Monday was a first day of school for our girls and some sort of beginning of a new life for us:-)
Now I will have more time to describe photo-sessions we do and (my favorite:-) to upload more photos including “before and after” on this blog.
Here, at AKELstudio we have so many plans and ideas: We are going to change our stock web site www.akelphoto.com to specializing only in water stock photography. We want to re-design our Portfolio and run ourLIVE masterclassesto a regular basis.
Also I will fill up my inspirational and motivational collection (www.kapreez.com) with best photographers, designers, retouchers and readings.
“I’m only one third through the Masterclass videobook, but so far it is great. I have never seen this information presented in any other publication, on or off the internet. If you are interested in splash photography, this is the preeminent reference.” –Danny Brown
